Need some help with your class?
Dear Penfriend,
For the past year, we have identified ways that can help our users get the most out of Penfriends. Given how many students are demonstrating their writing ability, we selected themes that will encourage them to keep writing and expand their vocabulary.
This came as a result of your feedback so please continue to tell us what we can do to help!
You may be able to find the answer to a problem from one of our past newsletters - steps 1-3, steps 4-5, steps 6-7.

Monthly theme – Sports and Hobbies
The summer holidays are usually an ideal time for students to play familiar sports or pick up new hobbies. There is often a big sporting event such as the Olympics on the television that inspires a future generation of sport stars.
Is this the same in your country? Have they found themselves interested in a hobby over the summer that they hadn't previously tried?

Country of the month – United Kingdom
The United Kingdom has a rich and diverse history of culture. For the month of August in Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, thousands of performing artists come to take part in the Fringe Festival. Many countries are represented and perform both traditional and non-traditional activities.
The Fringe Festival or a local arts festival could be a fun topic to explore and have your students write to your partner schools about. If your students were to create their own arts festival, what would they like to include?

Teacher support
Here is some advice from the current Cambridge English Teacher Support newsletter.
Running dictation involves students working in teams to ‘run’ between a writer at the back of the classroom and a piece of text at the front of the classroom. This activity is a fun way to work on speaking, listening, reading and writing! It’s perfect as a way to vary the pace in a lesson, but you’ll need to be prepared for noise and movement.
